After 30+ years spent in corporate America, my wife and I packed up our belongings and moved from Washington DC to rural Virginia in 2019. Picking up a paintbrush for the first time in many years proved to be a daunting task. I decided my focus would be simple…paint things I see every day, don’t be afraid to embellish reality, and celebrate the colors in everyday life. As a result, my paintings tend to be fairly bright and oftentimes whimsical. The area around Albemarle County in central Virginia offers an abundance of subject material from horse farms to wine country to glorious mountain scapes. I am never wanting for inspiration here. While I will occasionally paint something abstract or outside the general locality, I am always drawn back to my native Virginia. My paintings are generally all acrylic on stretched canvas. I paint almost every day in my studio in Charlottesville, VA with my dogs Winston and Emmy close at hand.
